Choosing a family photographer can be a daunting task. Here in Northern Virginia there are a multitude of photographers with varying styles and prices which makes picking one tough. Sometimes it's a matter of finding the one who's style speaks to you or finding the one who can fit into your busy schedule. If you are lucky you find one that fits all your criteria and everything goes smoothly. If however, you are wavering and wondering if it is worth the time and monetary investment let me tell answer with a resounding "yes". And I say that as a mother who wants to look back and see her self in some of the family photos. So often {almost always} I am the one behind the camera and am missing from these captured little moments. Is it the same in your house? So not only are the whole family shots something to cherish, but so are the little snuggles and kisses that get sneaked into life's little moments.

{just as sweet as his brother...and the same age!}

Here is the second reason I fell back in love with photography. And can you tell that I am in love with black and white photos too? I am envisioning a gallery wall of black and white family photos framed in antique brass frames.

How do you display your family pictures? Do you have family photos framed around your house? One of the benefits of hiring a family photographer is the end product. An hour or so of your time can yield beautiful visual reminders of precious childhood moments and bits of your family history. The fleece hoody in the photo above was a beloved wardrobe staple for about a year and affectionately named "fleecy." I am so glad I have a picture of this guy wearing it.

Welcome to my first post. This cute kid is one of the reasons behind my renewed love of photography. I say renewed because I first fell in love with photography in high school. I actually went to college thinking I'd major in fine arts and photography. Many years and two education degrees later, I am back in the world of photos. The world sure can be funny!

I hope you'll take a minute or two to look through my site and contact me if you are interested in photographs of your family.

{Quick photography tip}

The background in this picture is a chalkboard. Even if you don't write something goofy above your subject it gives photos a really nice contract. Give it a try!
